Harvest 2008

On Thursday 16th October we held a KS1 and a KS2 Harvest Service and asked children to donate non-perishable items.  On Friday 17th October, Yr 1 and Yr 2 School Council members (Erin Popham, Daniel Meaden, Lewis Paterson, Elidah Paterson, Lottie Dadds, Robin Crundwell) and Lewis Burge took all the harvest donations to "Somewhere to Go", a registered charity which offers food, warmth and advice to homeless people in Weston super Mare.,  There were lots of non-perishable items donated plus an amazingly big pumpkin, which didn't turn into Cinderella's Glass Carriage....

Jean Eales, the Centre Manager, was so pleased with all the donations and she asked that the School Council members report back to the rest of the school just how grateful they are that Uphill Primary School children thought about harvest and donating food to their centre.  Mrs Langson, Mrs Burge, Mr Paterson (Lewis and Elidah's Dad) and Ms Wells (Daniel's Mum) also accompanied the children, big thanks to the parents for making the donation possible.

Science Family Workshops

On Tuesday 11th November, we held a Family Science Workshop after school.  Children and their parents could work on Science experiments together in every classroom.  Here are some of our photos.

Congratulations! Uphill Community Primary School has been awarded their Bronze Eco Schools Award.

Now, we are working towards our Silver Eco Schools Award and looking forward to our Environmental Sciences Week 24th October.  Members of the Environment Club visited Uphill Village Shop & Newsagents, to ask them to sell canvas bags rather than use plastic bags.  The Environment Club also made posters asking people to not use plastic bags and use a resuable bag instead.
